It is a soft film, solvent deposited, water-displacing type, and temporary corrosion preventive oil. It gives a tacky, oily type of film, which can withstand severe conditions and is also resistant to handling. It gives excellent resistance to salt spray. Therefore it can be applied to components to be transported by sea.
It can be applied directly by dipping the wet metal components, machine tools into the rust preventive oil. This oil displaces the water from the metal surface and leaves a greasy film. The oil can also be applied by spraying method.
Dipping or wiping the surface with solvents such as Diesel or Kerosene or washing in hot alkaline solutions can easily remove the film.
